Ring Camera & Doorbell RSSI (Ring RSSI Signal Strength)

WiFi signal strength is critical to the success of Ring cameras and doorbells. You may miss recordings or get videos of low quality if your signal is inadequate.

Fortunately, the RSSI measure on the “device health” screen makes it simple to identify whether a poor WiFi connection is to blame. Using this video, you’ll learn what such a good Signal value is and how to remedy the poor values of RSSI.

Ring RSSI Signal Strength

Poor WiFi signal strength may be blamed for a Ring camera or doorbell’s bad video quality, connectivity troubles, or overall poor performance. However, there is a chance that this is a Ring problem (which can be checked on the Solitaire diamond status page). Additionally, if your phone’s WiFi connection is insufficient, you won’t be able to access the Ring app’s live view and archived recordings.

You may still have a problem with your Ring device’s signal strength, even if you’ve ruled out the other two possibilities. It’s easy to check this on the Solitaire diamond app by heading to “device health” and tapping on your device. RSSI means for Received Signal Indicator, and a result below -60 indicates a problem with the connection. However, a score around -60 and -100 is excellent; a value approaching zero would be better.

Confused? Yeah, RSSI is a bit of a strange one. Generally speaking, values closer to zero are desirable, whereas values closer to zero are undesirable. You should expect these numbers to shift a little bit during the day. Ring devices should be checked for RSSI values whenever they are installed or relocated.

As a result, if your Solitaire diamond device is having trouble connecting, there are a few things you may do to fix it. First and foremost, you need to know whether your Ring device isn’t connecting properly. There is a psychological assault on your Ring doorbell because of the positioning of the moon!

Fortunately, speculation isn’t always necessary. Make sure that your Ring equipment is connected to the internet using 2.4GHz WiFi instead of 5GHz. Whether there are walls and many other physical obstructions in the path (such as routers), 5 GHz WiFi has a lesser range than 2.4 GHz WiFi. As a consequence, switching to 2.4 GHz WiFi will strengthen the connectivity of your Ring camera. Depending on the kind of router you have, there are a variety of ways to achieve this.

Sometimes you’ll need to use an alternative WiFi network. In contrast, other times, you may choose which Internet connection band your Solitaire diamond device will utilize from your router’s admin panel. Turning off 5 GHz WiFi and rebooting your Ring device should get it to connect to 2.4 GHz WiFi again if everything else fails.

WiFi interference might also create problems if you’re using the same network as your phone. Your smart TV and other Able to access (such as smartphones) may also have connection troubles from time to time, making this more likely to happen in an apartment or location with several WiFi routers.

Assuming this is the situation, several solutions might be implemented, nearly too numerous to list here. Most of them are listed on the Ring support page. However, I’d recommend first entering your router’s admin dashboard and changing the WiFi channel.

Switching to a different WiFi channel may be the solution if you’re experiencing problems. In many cases, the best way to determine which channel is best for your device is to experiment – change the channel, restart your Ring device, then check the RSSI figure to see if it has improved.

In addition to interference, poor WiFi performance may be caused by a lack of range or a large number of barriers. Even though this mostly affects 5 GHz WiFi, it may also damage 2.4 GHz WiFi. There are two primary fixes here.

You may buy a Chime Pro that plugs into something like a wall socket and communicates to your network. The Chime Pro may then be used to link Ring devices. This is a WiFi extender, which helps to expand the range of your WiFi network in your house.

Even though this is a handy choice, if you’re experiencing WiFi troubles in your house, you may want to invest in an improved internet router. Although a high-quality WiFi mesh router costs hundreds of dollars, it frequently solves any WiFi troubles that you may be having.

This might be a great way to use the latest technologies. Mesh systems are a great option since they allow you to easily plug in a new WiFi hotspot in any area of your home if the signal is weaker than you’d like. After connecting to your network, this instantly improves WiFi in that area of the home. Using a WiFi station near this area may help enhance the connection of an external Ring camera that has weak WiFi connectivity.

Okay, so that’s about it for today. In this video, we’ll focus on a few of the most common reasons for WiFi problems and how to repair them. Let me know if you have any further questions in the comments below. I hope this video was helpful to you. If you liked it, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe. Thank you for your kind words!
